Colorimeter, Goniometer, Paint
Sunday, September 03, 2006
A Goniometer Colorimeter has been designed and developed that is used in lacquer paint technology to check compliance with tolerance requirements. The Goniometer is used in addition to the other color-measuring units. The Goniometer is used because angle setting is usually only employed for solid colored lacquers. Special consideration is placed on retaining the hue and hue effect of the lacquer, especially when a new batch of lacquer is introduced.
A mobile measuring unit has been designed and developed to perform tests outside the laboratory. Since the hue is dependent on the angle of observation, particularly with special effects lacquers, a Colorimeter is used with this type of measurement. The illumination and measurements are optical, making it possible to determine the reflection of the sample by varying the angles of illumination and observation. This information data provides for the detail description of any color discrepancies in real time.
