Encoder, Beamsplitter, Grating
Sunday, September 03, 2006
A Grating Encoder Beamsplitter has been designed and developed where the LED light beam is split in two separate light beams by a beam-splitter. The two laser light beams pass through the grating disk at separate locations. The light beam optics is designed to compensate for the ball bearing eccentricity and ball bearing run out of the grating disk. Since the two light beams are180° apart on the grating disk, they pass through the same diagonally opposite slits in both the forward and reverse directions. Four cycles of sinusoidal light intensity variation are obtained by rotating the disk one increment pitch.
